Covered Bridge

Weekly Peer Support Groups · Free · In-Person & Virtual

A covered bridge protects you while you cross. That's exactly what this group is — a private, sheltered space for women who are actively leaving or newly out of an abusive relationship.

This is not therapy. It is not crisis response. It is a structured, peer-supported group of 6–10 women meeting weekly in 6–8 week cycles. Facilitated. Confidential. Safe.

Every session begins with grounding — safety, confidentiality, consent. Then a theme. Then optional sharing. Then a practical takeaway you can use that week. Nothing is ever forced.

Session Topics Include

  • · Understanding abuse & trauma bonds
  • · Rebuilding self-trust
  • · Safety planning — without pressure
  • · Financial basics after abuse
  • · Navigating guilt, shame, and self-blame
  • · Boundaries with ex-partners
  • · Parenting after abuse

"You don't have to be ready to leave to come. You just have to be ready to be in a room with women who understand."

Words Set Free

6-Week Writing Workshop · Free · Collier & Lee County

A six-week writing workshop designed for survivors of domestic violence. Led by author and survivor Laurien Papa Bartuccio, the program guides participants through turning their experiences into powerful stories — fiction, memoir, or something in between.

No writing experience required. No pressure to share. Just a room full of women finding their voices on the page.

The workshop culminates in a published anthology featuring every participant's voice. For many survivors, writing is where healing begins. This program gives that healing a home — in a lasting, tangible form.

What You Can Expect

  • · 6 weekly sessions, led by a published author
  • · Write fiction, memoir, or anything in between
  • · No experience required — only your story
  • · Sharing is always optional, never required
  • · Your work published in a real anthology
  • · Completely free to all participants

"Writing my story was one of the most healing things I've ever done. I want to give other women the space and the tools to do the same."

— Laurien Papa Bartuccio, Co-Founder

Curtain Call

6-Week Acting Workshop · Free · Collier & Lee County · Childcare Provided

A six-week acting workshop for survivors — not a performance class, not a casting call. A healing space where women use voice, movement, and storytelling to rebuild confidence and rediscover themselves.

10–15 women per cohort. Two hours per week. No acting experience required. Participation is always by choice — you can watch, pass, or step out at any time. This is your space.

Each week builds on the last — from individual voice work to ensemble collaboration. The program ends with a Curtain Call scene night. For many women it is the first time they have felt truly seen.

The 6-Week Arc

  • Week 1 · Voice & Presence
  • Week 2 · Physical Expression & Movement
  • Week 3 · Improvisation & Trust
  • Week 4 · Scene Study & Character
  • Week 5 · Monologue & Personal Narrative
